Mirror's Edge - Chapter 6 Speedrun

Got my first world record time on Mirror's Edge the day before yesterday. Checked now, but it had gotten beaten already. Guess I'll spend the weekend trying to get another one instead :)

Uppsala Reball

Played Reball for the first time today. It's like paintball, except you use rubber balls that don't break instead of paintballs. It was alot of fun, here's some stats:

Hit statistics:
1 on the top of my head
1 on the visor
1 on my cheek
1 behind my left shoulder
3 on my arms
1 on my thumb
5 on the chest
3 on my sides

Total: Hit 16 times

Achievements:
1 sacrifice run (2 vs 1 situation)
1 rush (resulted that I got hit 6 times after reaching the middle)
3 base captures
1 "knife" kill
1 field crawl (from one side to the other behind the long cover)
1 getting flanked (not a good thing)

Here's a video of other people playing at the same arena we used today:

Mirror's Edge - Chapter 6 Bug - Vrooom!

I couldn't sleep yesterday, so I played some Mirror's Edge again for the first time in months. Was trying to beat the speedrun record for Chapter 6, but my shortcut ended up bypassing an important trigger, so the door portal, and the rest of the level behind it, never loaded. I ended up falling out of the map...

When just playing a game isn't enough...

I Am Alive released by the end of March?

"Ubisoft has revealed that mysterious survival game I Am Alive will be released by the end of March.

That brings the launch forward from spring (Q2), which strikes us as bizarre, as we've heard next to nothing about the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game so far. But Ubisoft was adamant Q1 2009 was the date when contacted this morning.

I Am Alive is being made by Cold Fear developer Darkworks, and takes place after a terrible earthquake in Chicago, where those left alive struggle to survive."

Update:
I Am Alive "will require further development time, and will now bolster the line-up for [fiscal] 2009-10", being released some time after April 2009.

Razer Mamba - 1ms 5600dpi "wireless" mouse

"According to Razer reps, the reason the Mamba can do this is because they’ve managed to obtain a 1-millisecond response time over 2.4GHz wireless, the same speed that they use in their wired mice, and have an individual MAC address for each mouse. At that speed and a tap-to-spin-180-degrees resolution of 5600 DPI, gamers will be able to frag for 14 hours straight on its 800 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery. There’s also 64KB of internal memory for 500-keystroke macros."

Avalanche Breaks Silence on Secret Project

An open-world fantasy action title for the 360 and PS3, AionGuard exhibits a love of its inspirations. When observing one of the game’s in-engine sequences (a ‘pre-visualisation’ for the final form of the game), Edge declared that it’s the closest any game has got to recreating the cinematography of the Lord Of The Rings films.

AionGuard follows an army of elite soldiers, tasked with capturing fixed areas of land which are occupied by numerous mythical and magical creatures. But Odd Ahlgren, the game’s narrative director, is quick to address the presumptions that come with the fantasy theme, stating that AionGuard is an action adventure “like God Of War, but it’s a lot more open and you have lots more choice in how to tackle these situations. We’re not making an RPG, this isn’t about going to the woods and grinding.”

Speaking to Edge, Avalanche’s co-founder and creative director Christofer Sundberg explains that the development of the game has found friction with its previous publisher, before the team bought the rights back.

“There are obviously financial reasons why we will need a publisher, but while we are flexible enough to adapt we also need the game to keep its identity – it’s a very long-term project for us,” he said. The team has yet to announce a new publisher.

Ahlgren adds that the AionGuard army are like a mix of "WWI dogfighter pilots, Samurai and medieval knights. But instead of swords and aeroplanes they wield magic.” In regards to ‘dogfighter’, the team at Avalanche is touching on the player’s ability to pilot, yes, dragons.
