During Game Developers Conferance '06, Jeff Orkin had a session dubbed "Three States and a Plan: The AI of F.E.A.R.", where he talked about the implementation of A.I. into games, aswell as persuading the player into believing the A.I. is smarter than it actually is.
Very informative and eye-opening, with the proceeding available as a downloadable document, that I highly recommend anyone who is just the slightest interested in developing games, should read through.
