Gamma 256

Gamma stands for 'Game Art Montreal', which seems to be a experimental games festival of some sort, that was held at the end of last month.

Their game contest had one major restriction, that the games should fit inside 256x256 pixels, which leads them to look amusingly retro.

The reason for this limitation were that the gameplay should lie in focus, rather than the visuals, something most professional developers have forgotten these days.
