Avalanche Studios - Game Developers Evening
But it's always a bit awkward trying to start a discussion with other game developers. "So what have you been working with?", "Can't really tell... but what have you guys been up to?", "Sorry, I'm not able to say...".

Spelfest 2006
You might've noticed by now that I've started blogging like once a week, instead of as frequently as I used to. The reason for that is that I just been too busy with work, party and events to be able to blog.
I've also figured out, since I came to Uppsala, there's been some celebration every Saturday. Either it's because someone got a new appartment, or someone else had a birthday. None the less, it's nice and a great way to socialize with people. Although, I'm pretty fed up with Princess Cake by now.

Our concept artist Mattias Snygg couldn't be happier this week, since he got a box full of The Darkness comics that he made. People was walking in and out of his office all day, asking for a signed copy from him. It made you happy, watching him sign each copy with a gleaming smile. He even bougth himself a silver pen for the occasion.
I got myself three signed copies, which two of them were supposed to be given away to friends at Spelfest 2006, but I forgot them at the office. Typical.

Spelfest 2006, 20-21 october at café Street in Stockholm. It was a really nice event and I got the chance to greet and talk to alot of interesting people, aswell as listen to some great music by Boy versus Bacteria. You can download his music from the link at the bottom of this post.
I were suprised to see soo many people from the University of Gotland there, since I only thougth they would exhibit their stuff, not actually be there to present it for people. It was really nice to see them again, and Headbanger become one of the main attractions of the show.

During the friday party, alot of people came from both Grin and Avalanche Studios, and I were supposed to buy Chrille (from Grin) a drink as a thanks for my White Russian he gave me the last time we met. When I asked him what he wanted, he told me to suprise him. So I did. I think it became something like a White Russian with alot of rom, and a little bit cola in it.
Didn't see any DICE people there though, and I were the only representant from Starbreeze there, since most of them stayed behind for the office party during the same day.
I met some of the press people that visited us a couple of weeks ago to, and greeted on some of the independent developers such as Free Launch Design and my personal favourites at Muskedunder :)

Alot of my time during the Saturday, went into playing Free Launch Designs game, Icy Tower, which is suprisingly addictive. The rest of the time went into watching Machinima movies like Mine and Mine 2, that was produced in Battlefield.
Kajfa and Yosh where there to display Sumo and Yosh book about how to draw manga. I've had plenty of times to buy it before, but I never did, so I took the oppurtunity to do so now, and she where kind enough to both sign it and draw a picture of me.

Before venturing back to Uppsala, I managed to loot a huge poster of Ninja Loves Pirate from the Muskedunder team, and the entire team (except one) signed it for me. They even added "Muskedunder <3 Starbreeze" at the bottom of the poster. I'm going to hang it up soon, take a picture of it and post it on the blog for everyone to see.
Also, I must say, the subway system in Stockholm is ridiculous confusing. You're supposed to go in one direction, and then the train starts going backwards towards where you came from, or something. Well, it was confusing.
Oh, and thanks Calle for arranging such a nice event and letting me sleep at your apparment (even if it were only for three hours on your floor, it still was a nice experience).

Swedish Game Awards 2007
Just came back from the police station. They had to take a picture of me, so other countries would be able to recognize me wherever I went. In a week or two, I'm going to visit the tea-sippers at the 2K HQ, and while at site, I'll get educated in the fine arts of Quality Assurance. The teachings will only take a couple of days, but I still thougth it would be good with a passport, or so I've heard.
Other news is, as the title suggest, the forthcoming of the Swedish Game Awards 2007. I've never really understood why events tend to name themself with the year that's aftertheir current one. Oh well, this event will be happening on the fourth of October, 2006, between 18.00-22.00.

Where? At the Zkillz internet café in Stockholm, Saltmätargatan 19, near Handelshögskolan. I hope to be able to attend, if it won't collide with my London travelling, and since it's just a train ride from Uppsala, aswell as there'll be more people from the job walking about.

Uppcon - Day 1
We arrived at Williams resident yesterday, there we sat up our camp with a PS2 loaded with Soul Calibur 3, the result was that I stayed up all night creating new characters and unlocking stuff, so I only got the chance to sleep one hour today before the alarm rang and the other guys waked me up. I've been truly tired throughout the whole day, walking around the streets in Uppsala like a zombie.
My breakfast consisted of a Chorizo (which in fact were no Chorizo but just a ordinary thick sausage...) that I ate on my way to Uppcons location. When arriving we relized that there was a line of people (mostly alternative culture people with shades of pink in their hairs) that was going all the way around the building, probably the longest line I ever saw in real life, except for the ones at Dreamhack.
William made some ultra haxxy moves and got ahold of the braclets that we need for getting in and we skipped the whole line (people had been waiting there for hours ^^) and went through a backdoor marked with "Uppcon entrance on the other side".
Todays dinner was one cheeseburger. I made a nice cut when buying a One Piece manga for only 5SEK and a Full Metal Alchemist necklace for 25SEK. To bad I can't show any pictures right now because I forgot the usb cable at home. After my cheeseburger me and William sneaked into the cinema in the middle of Tsukihime episodes 1-4. What I could understand from starting seeing the serie from the end of episode 2, there's a nice vampire girl that want to kill every other vampire out there and a spoiled boy that can cut a "life artery" of materials and beings, also the boy got two identical twin girls servants at his home that works for him and his sister, cooking their food and cleaning their house.
We had our evening food at a lovely restaurant, I ate pasta carbonara, with ciabatta bread and french fries and left-over meat. Enough to satisfy my hunger that I had built up since the day before. I can hardly spell while writing this because I'm so tired. I'll probably rewrite this once I get home after the third november.
Also, Nogg-aholic the Movie has been downloaded over 5000 times in just the timespawn since yesterday when it was released, and that's really good considering it's almost a 700mb movie.

Uppcon '05
Today we are leaving for Uppcon '05 that starts tomorrow. I didn't get the time to book a ticket for the boat yet, with all the commotion about Nogg-aholic, so let's hope they got one left more, or else I may need to work on the boat as a cook, yes?

Combat '05 - Day 2
Wow, I'm really tired from all the intense gaming today, but what a great day it've been. I made it all the way to the Soul Calibur 2 tournament final, where I met the current swedish champion. To most peoples surpise, I didn't get totally pwned, our matches was some real crowd pleasers, but there is no point in denying that he's clearly absolute in comparison to me.
Emil, wearing my pimp glasses that I scaveged from Saint.
So I ended up on the second place, which I'm very proud of and I'll probably from now on go around and brag about it to everybody I meet. The sad part is that noone from GAME won in any of the other games neither, but we got all the second places and they were only people from my class that did. Also, I got the chance to fight Jet two times more today, and twice he got to taste the wraith of my mighty bastard sword.

Combat '05
We have game tournaments annually here in Visby and this year it's going to be Combat'05, bigger, badder, better! Hopefully the dates won't collide with Uppcon'05 (1-3 nov) or Dreamhack Winter'05 (24-27 nov). November seems like it's going to be a fun month this year!
