This is the game we came up with last friday during the Game Design Workshop with Supermarit. We had many ideas like Lemmings, Worms and Kid Icarus, but we finally settled on something everyone had already played and knew well; Super Mario Bros.
Our tools consisted of pen and paper, and we had to come up with the concept and produce the "board" within one hour, and I think the end result turned out really well based on the short time span we had.
We even made our own dice based on a "Loppa", which is some sort of origami. One holds the "Loppa" and another one says how many times he/she should fold the "Loppa", then the person says which one of the corners of the "Loppa" he choose and the one holding "Loppa" then unfolds it and shows what's beneath. We used numbers as in how many steps you're supposed to go, but usually it's commands like "stand on one leg for half a minute" or something like that.
Later that evening, we had chicken salad and some pastry with cocoa (which I can't remember the name of) over at Supermarit HQ. All in all, it was a ok day, but William and I decided that we wouldn't show up the next day. Neither of us felt for spending 12hours playing with paper and listen to lectures that's probably best suited for those who haven't already studied 2 years of game development. But huge props for Supermarit for arranging something like this...
