12$ t-shirts + copies of indie games
Kevin J Allen"So after closer inspection I discovered that those tags, each one contains a CD, and on that CD is a short-form, experimental, independently developed, PC game.
Yeah, seriously. Not only that but they dedicate a lot of tag real estate to talking about the creator of the game –in much the same way you might talk about a hot new band.
The shirt was like a tour shirt for the game, cool graphics from the games –remember we're talking indie development, so illustration and flash art, not 3d rendering, IE: stuff that looks good screenprinted on cotton."

Activision merger affecting future Sierra titles
"Blizzard might get a free pass when Activision officially takes over Vivendi Games, but the Sierra branch of the company isn't so lucky. Variety reports that Sierra developers will have to justify their games currently in development to Activision executives once the merger is complete and re-pitch their work to survive.Variety: Sierra devs need to justify games after Activision merger
Variety believes games expected this year like Bourne, Prototype, Brutal Legend and Ghostbusters are safe, but that games for '09 (titles that we'd probably hear about for the first time at E3) are all in limbo. For example, will there be another Bourne game when it conflicts with Activision's James Bond license? The fate of Sierra titles now lies in the whims of Activision execs."

Some words from the Spector
“I’m really not satisfied with the ‘OK, now you’re in the game part, now you’re in the story part’ model – interaction, movie, interaction, movie. That’s just not good enough.”Spector: ‘Game writers need to learn to scale back’

Blizzard Worldwide Invitational 2008
"Tickets for the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational convention and tournament being held in Paris, France, will go on sale this Thursday The event will be at the Porte de Versailles Exposition Centre on June 28 and 29, with tickets costing €70 / £55 ($110)."
I've been asked to attend this event now by a few people, but I really don't know if I got the money, the time or the interest. Blizzard isn't really interesting to me, so it would be the people and for checking out France. And in all honesty, I'm not much of a tourist person...

Scott Miller Interview
"While Prey pioneered the portal concept, Valve’s Portal took it to an all-new level. It really shows what you can do when you focus on a single core cool gameplay concept. So, while Portal impressed the heck out of us, it has also inspired us to return the favor to Valve and hopefully leapfrog them as they did us. We believe we have new ideas for portals that will keep the portal race interesting."Scott Miller Interview

The appartment lies 2-3 mins walk from the central station in Uppsala, and between 5-10 mins walk to our new offices, so finding an appartment with better positioning will be hard if you haven't earned your first millions yet.
Bidding will probably commence the day after tomorrow, and I've already cleared it with my bank to get a loan promise/guarantee (meaning they'll lend me the money needed to buy the appartment).
So, does anyone have any suggestions for bidding on appartments, and how to best make other speculants "disappear" (use your imagination). Let's say, I really want this appartment...

Some details on Heavy Rain finally emerges
On Locations:New Heavy Rain Details Spilled, Lapped Up
"I don't want to do a big free-roaming city like GTA, because the flow of the story will then be hard to control. Nevertheless, I do want to incorporate big sets, with a crowd, heavy populated areas like a mall and a subway are going to be in there. Of course, the gameplay has got to make use of that aspect too."On Graphics:
"People will be surprised. Internal (Sony's) feedback on graphics has been great. This is going to be a truly next-gen game. But still, we want to do something unique with the graphics, going beyond just making the most photorealistic world we can."On Gameplay:
"With the release of Fahrenheit, we gave the adventure genre a new grammar. We brought new ways into the genre, new words if you want to see it like that, a new vocabulaire. With Heavy Rain, where going to expand on that same grammar."On Story:
"Heavy Rain is about normal people that have landed in extraordinary situations. I wanted a much more personal story. The first thing that came to my mind, as a father of two little boys, was that the main theme should simply be a father's love for his son. This is not a game about saving the princess or the world. Its purely about a father's love.""The main story will revolve around 4 different characters, and we're putting the spotlight on their perceptions. The question 'what is good and what is evil' is the key here, that will be just a matter of viewpoint...I believe heavily in moral choices, I'm going to use them A LOT. They're not about being good or bad, but about finding the right balance."

Futuremark wanting to trademark "Pwnage"
Fellow gamers,
Our purpose in filing for trademark on the name "Pwnage" is not to charge money or stop people from using the expression. That's not what a trademark is for. Instead, we want to protect ourselves from squatters (or what I call campers) - people looking to trademark the name on false pretenses, just to make a claim against Futuremark Games Studio for its use.
Peter Molyneux whispers about Dimitri
"I’m saying absolutely nothing. I’ve been sat down in a room by the head of PR [of Microsoft Games, --ed.] and been told to not talk about it.", Peter began. And went on to talk about it in a very cautious way:Peter Molyneux' Next Game based on Dimitri and a Discovery
"Since Black&White, we’ve been thinking a lot about AI, Lionhead was founded with that thought of AI in mind. In terms of the core or the theory of the AI, we’ve moved from Black&White onto a project called Dimitri, which I’ve been tantalizing you about for a long time. And that team kept on researching. Dimitri was always an experimental thing, which is why I never showed it."
Peter Molyneux continued: "And then it moved from that experiment to a moment in time that happened six months ago when a discovery was made, and this discovery has been so exciting that it has lead to Lionhead focussing on it and sculpting a game around that. I think that discovery is so significant... This discovery has lead us to start a game and that game will be on the front cover of Nature magazines and Science magazines."
